AE Head of Community Services Department highlights the significance of NAIDOC Week

The Head of our Community Services Department, Anna Sharonina, underscores the importance of NAIDOC Week in recognizing and honoring the rich heritage and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The department has outlined an exciting series of events and initiatives planned for NAIDOC Week to celebrate and promote understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures.

Read Anna's NAIDOC Week Message Below:

"As Head of Community Services, I emphasize the significance of NAIDOC Week in honoring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and achievements. It's crucial to celebrate NAIDOC Week to promote reconciliation, respect, and understanding across our community.

Our Community Services program plays a pivotal role during NAIDOC Week by organizing cultural events, educational workshops, and fostering partnerships with Indigenous communities. This strengthens awareness of Indigenous issues, promotes inclusivity, and supports reconciliation efforts. Community Services are vital in ensuring NAIDOC Week's themes of unity and respect resonate throughout the year, fostering a deeper appreciation of Australia's rich cultural diversity. Together, we can amplify the voices and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples."
