ONLINE ENGLISH TEST INSTRUCTIONS
Read the instructions for your Online English Test below:
1. Go to https://lms.ae.edu.au/
2. Username: Student ID, Password: Student ID
For example: Username: 1070000, Password: 1070000
*You may change your password after you log in.
3. Once you have logged in, click on “My Dashboard” from the menu bar.
4. From there, click on AE Placement Tests
5. Please read the instructions on the test page carefully. You will take 3 tests: Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
6. The timing of the tests is as follows:
Reading Test: 1 hour
Writing Test: 40 minutes
Speaking Test: 10 minutes
7. The reading tests are multiple choice and the writing test consists of a short typed essay (around 200 words). You may take these tests either before or after the speaking test.
*You must take the reading and writing tests on a computer and not on a mobile device.
8. The speaking test will take place via Zoom with one of our English teachers. At your assigned time, click on the Speaking Test tab and you will see the Zoom link. (See below for further instructions)
9. If you cannot log in or if you experience any other issues, please send an email to headteacherelicos@ae.edu.au.
Setting up for the Zoom Meeting
1. There are three ways to join a Zoom meeting:
Click on the link given to you.
Access the speaking test here.
Go to https://zoom.us and click Join a Meeting.
Type the Meeting ID and click Join.
Type the meeting password and click Join Meeting.
If you are on a mobile device, download the Zoom App and click Join.
Type the meeting password and click Join Meeting.
2. The first time you use Zoom, you will need to download it to your computer. After it downloads, click the application to open Zoom.
3. After you have downloaded it, click Open Zoom Meetings or Open https://zoom.us.
4. You may have to wait in a waiting room until the teacher allows you to enter. Once you are permitted to enter, click Join with Computer Audio.
5. Click Start Video at the bottom to turn on your camera.
6. When the test is over, click Leave.
*If you have never used Zoom before, it is a good idea to enter a “Test” meeting first to make sure your microphone and camera are working properly: https://zoom.us/test
